Just wanted see what started everyone’s collections/hobby. Mine started 26 years ago in Birmingham Alabama collectors show with a original all matching 1941 BCD. Here are some pictures of the rifle which started my addiction. Please post yours!
Thanks,
James

My first really nice 98 was an S/42G. Came from a member here that helped me alot. Was supposed to be a one and done representative to go along with my American WWII arms. Absolutely fell in love with the rifle. Now I’m completely sucked into the early and prewar examples but that G will always be the pride of my collection.

A dou 44 stock mismatch. I never did find out the manufacture of the stock, but I know it isn’t correct. This was my first milsurp all together and the one that sparked the fire.

All matching byf44 in the k block over 40 years ago. Still own it and the only K98k in my collection that I ever fired, back when I was young and had to shoot everything.

My first was a bolt mm BNZ 660 1940 that I bought in 1968 with a bayonet. I used it to go hunting a few times and I still have it. It's still in original unmessed with condition and still shoot it. It got me into collecting a few other BNZ's. Oh, and no import marks.

My first K98 was an incredibly ratty Russian Capture. Can't even remember the code. All I do remember is it shooting pretty well despite the disintegrating stock. It's long gone but I wish I kept it.

1938 S147 in a Bishop stock. My dad spotted it at a show we were working. It's in a norge rework stockset now. I'll have it as long as I live.

A Yugo rework with a nice big fake WaA195 stamped on the rh buttstock and several fake e/63's on the receiver.

1940 42 code all matching including the rod, duffle cut.... the rifle that started the addiction

All matching CE44 was my first, unfortunately sold it to fund another purchase and have regretted it ever since. Nothing special rifle-wise but was my first collector grade rifle and sent me down the rabbit hole.

Nick

Kind of a mix with some numbers matching depot rifle with a spare marked barrel.
