Bayonet S84/98 old pattern

C.G. Haenel Suhl Preussen, W87

2. J. 6. 31. / 2. J. R. 31

2. Jaeger bataillon, 6. company, weapon no. 31. / 2. Jaeger bataillon, Radfahrer (bicycle) company, weapon no. 31.

The flagship of my unit marking collection. Even if the letters are diffrent its still matching!

On 10.01.1913 every Jäger-Bataillon formed two more companies. A 5. machine gun company and a 6. Radfahrer (bicycle) company. For a very short period the regulation unit markings from the Radfahrer company would be as the 6. company. Only a few weeks later the prussian unit marking regulation of 1913 would use a "R" for the Radfahrer company. So the sheath was replaced later and marked according to regulations with 2. J. R. 31. matching to the bayonet.

A little late to this party, but for me, I think my most interesting marking is on my IG 71, it is for the Bayerische Eisenbahn Betriebskompanie...Bavarian Railway protection troops.

Attached is pic of the buttplate, and a link to the thread on it.

Contextually it doesn't mean a lot, since the buttplate is not matching to the rifle, but neat mark in my book anyway...

The other cool one I have is an Erfurt Kar 98, marked to the 18th Dragoner Regiment, 18th Dragoons. Matching gun, so at least more contextually interesting...

So I followed the link to this piece (as I often do) and found this...

Some photos showing Bavarian railways troops.

One of the soldiers is armed with a G71.

But as Craig often warns regarding documenting of turds the Google+ link is gone as is Google+ itself. Guess they couldn't milk enough money out of it? Anyway the point is valid. We already know Gunbonker can't flush those turds fast enough and hosting has a long and spotty history.

Side dig. You never followed up with overall shots of the 71. Must have been some 'long weekend'? :)

You are 100% correct on both counts...

It is sad those pics are gone, they were really cool...

I did pull it out, and get some overall shots, and will update original thread...
