    Default Interesting unit markings

    Hello everybody,

i would like to open a thread covering unit markings of the imperial german era.

Unit markings from rifles, bayonets or other equipment are one of the things making german arms so interesting (to me at least) and there are so many fascinating and rare unit markings already here in the forum. Hopefully we can collect and post them here in this thread so they wont get lost. Maybe this has the potential to be a sticky?

I dont know and maybe its not that interesting but i thought why not give it a try. Reposts from other threads/forums are welcome! I will start with a few of my favourites.

Cuirassier sword french pattern for the GdC

    G.d.C.10.33.

Garde du Corps, 10. Company, weapon no. 33.

The prussian elite cuirassier regiment „garde du corps“ was organzied in 10 companies for most of its service life. In 1888 the GdC reorganized into 5 squadrons just like the rest of the german cavalry regiments.

    Bayonet S71/84

    1695 I. M. D.

    I. Matrosen-Division, weapon no. 1695

The navy unit marking simply stamped over the former unit marking from the 91. Infantry regiment when the bayonet went from the prussian army to the imperial german navy.

    Gewehr 98 Erfurt 1901. O. 158.

Not entirely sure what it signifies. Either an unfinished Ostasiatisches mark or possibly something related to an Oberkommando.
