Gustloff Werke KKW question

I just received my Gustloff-Werke KKW from the UPS guy, it's about 95-97% and definitely hasn't been messed with. That said, the rear sight leaf is numbered "67" on the underside, as is the top of the sight base. The rifle serial number, on the other hand, ends in "91". I'd appreciate any comments, as I'm still in the three-day window on this. Thanx!

that's correct on those . The sight numbers match and were an assembly number of some sort. Post some pics if you can..

Whew -- thank you, sir! I gathered it was something like that but, not knowing, I thought it best to defer to those more knowledgeable.

Pictures, yes. I'd love to. In fact, there are a few items around here I'd like to share in pictures, the KKW being one of them. Trouble is, I'm not at all computer savvy. Is there a link to a tutorial of some sort that you could furnish?

Richie

Sorry about the poor quality of these pictures. Point n' shoot camera, slow shutter under room lighting, no tripod. I'll do better in the future guys, I promise!

I bought this one out of that group Charlie Justmann recently acquired, and it seemed like the nicest one. Decent original sling came with it, along with a muzzle cover.

I saw it on his site. Is the muzzle cover maker marked or blank?

I saw it on his site. Is the muzzle cover maker marked or blank? Baring no issues (we haven't seen detailed pics) you did pretty good for the $$$ for a marked Gustloff. Most BSWs are marked, but when they changed their name to Gustloff they stopped. So, NSDAP marked Gustloffs are more scarce, other organization markings are scarce and rare (At least on the open market.

I cant remember.. did it also come with a legit KKW cleaning rod? Will need to see more pics to see if its a DSM or KKW sling.

The muzzle cover is blank, Wreck. And while the rifle has a nice cleaning rod that's of the proper dimensions for a KKW, I'll defer to the group as to whether or not it's an original -- the blued finish is literally 100%. Also, I don't know if the sling is a for a DSM or KKW, I'll have to check the Simpson and Speed books when I get a chance. I think Simpson said that KKW slings are VERY rarely marked, and this one has a super faint manufacturer's code. So it might be a DSM sling. The "frog" is also marked (and the marking is a bit more legible as I recall), but I suspect that's from a 98k sling. None of this a deal-breaker of course. The rifle is in very nice shape and shoots better than I can hold. If the sling winds up being a DSM type, I'll just swap it onto my Mauser DSM-36.

It's nice to know that the SA-NSDAP cartouche is somewhat less common on Gustloffs, though. I really appreciate your comments on my rifle, and look forward to learning more. I'll post some better pictures just as soon as I'm able, but I'll have to shoot them outdoors and it's been REALLY cold here lately!

Thanks again, buddy.

I just had a look at an old post (KKW22cal, 01-01-15, 05:54PM) and my sling is identical to the one shown. The frosch however, (which I mistakenly referred to as a "frog") is oversize for the cutout in my stock. So I'm assuming that I was right, and it's from a 98k sling.
