Looks like it was reworked at Maintz (#6 on buttplate) at some point. Might be where the rear sight was replaced.

I agree, Peter's rifle is beautiful in its originality and condition, which isn't all that easy to find for any 1915. That sling is something too, pretty damn desirable! All the acceptance stamps fit trends perfectly, which is good because you expect that of WMO and DWM.
