Gentlemen I’ve been offered this byf41 and I’d like to get your opinions on if anything’s been messed with. The bottom metal looks awfully gray compared to the bolt, I’m just curious if this may have been messed with or it is carry wear. I’m also concerned that the receiver may have been cleaned or heavily steel wooled, as there are scratches on the left side. Any input you all have is greatly appreciated.

From the looks of things, I'd say the color of the bottom metal is consistent with carry wear. The receiver looks OK to me, too. Overall it looks like a good piece so far.

From the pics provided it looks pretty good to me. An honest 98k showing a good bit of field use.
Very righteous 98k. I'd buy it.

I don’t have a pic of the buttplate but it’s the flat type. Here’s a pic of the front band, I’m curious if you all think it’s worn or cleaned.

Looks nice but I'm no expert, I've been looking for a byf 41 for a long time but have not found any near that nice around here. I'd be all over that one unless it was really expensive.

Well I bought it, it seemed reasonable compared to gunbroker

I hope so too but I'm not getting my hopes up because I've been looking a long time for one. I just started trying again I'm going to retire this June and was hoping I could get one as a retirement gift to myself.
