Just got this old guy and can't wait to shoot it. Looks like it's been around, but I have no history on it. Probably never made it to WW2.

To a large extent, reliable functioning will depend on a really stout magazine spring and ammunition that's on the "warm" side.

A complete detail strip and thorough cleaning beforehand will minimize your chances of breaking something.

There's an example of one here that Maggie Megellas, 82nd airborne brought back. It appears the slide was long ago refinished over pitting, the recoil spring is way too long, and the plunger/guide at the end is missing. It was all gummed up but after cleaning appears to cycle fine. Haven't fired it but hoping to snag a correct recoil spring for it.
