DOU 45 unissued?

These had to have been restored to factory new condition, stuff doesn't last 75+ years looking new even in ideal storage conditions.

We are going off video, but stocks are almost certainly bleached out. Very popular to do this in the 80s. Both look reblued also, and I'd bet both came from the same guy.

You really shouldn't buy rifles from these guys.

I've seen some really mint condition WWII rifles, but the ones in the video really made me suspicious. To me the bluing and shine of the stocks got my attention. Also, the leather on the bayonet seems like it was just dyed/treated yesterday.

It’s the work of Ed McCauley, it’s easy to spot a million miles from earth it’s so gaudy. Here’s the dou45 in photos:

And the g33/40:

McCauley was one of the guys who had to have “mint condition” everything and when he couldn’t find it, we’ll......look through the site linked for more of his guns, Leon bought a lot of his rifles. Not all are McCauleyized. I have seen other “mint condition” collectors post McCauley guns before. I just shake my head.

Old Ed even puttied up the dings and dents. I guess the "time machine" took us back to 1985.

They remind me of a Mitchell's at first glance, but with the original markings. This guy has good pieces, but when I saw some of his videos I became really suspicious.

I knew that serial #141 DOU45 looked familiar . Once You see a McCauley gun you can usually spot another mile away .

At the beginning of the video when the guy says " I'm gonna show you guns that'll bring tears to your eyes." he sure isn't kidding. When I saw how ridiculous these once fine rifles had been made to look I didn't cry, but I sure got a little sick inside. It's really a downer that this was done by a so called collector. This is just a different category of Bubba workmanship.

"Laminated stock with very light colored phenolic resin, almost invisible."

Yeah, bleach will do that...
