Hi all,
I’m new to the site. I have a 1917 JP Sauer and Son WW1 rifle. I took it to my gun smith and he said that it’s in stunning shape and the bore is clean. I do reload and have already ordered dies but I am wondering what the correct 8x57 cartridge would be for this particular weapon? My gun smith is going to measure the bore to confirm the diameter of the bullet.D09E4D48-B66F-41BE-94A7-DB5B2F0269FC.jpegA05BD94A-CD71-4DEF-8FEC-D7040D5903B8.jpegA2018C10-B5AB-41F6-9876-1B0369B00A75.jpegFF9ECD53-E19F-41D0-9768-FC15D2FFC08C.jpeg9FC42FBC-9B9E-44D8-AFBC-CC97410A77C2.jpeg

Technically it's a 7.92x57 but referred to commonly as 8mm. I shoot original WW2 ammo and have never reloaded so am unsure of exact weights and specifications.

Good to see you, SG!

Fellas, I had a look at this last night, and I was very impressed. All matching externally, good sling and a mirror-bright bore.

Naturally I recommended that he post it here, so our esteemed membership could tell him a bit about it.

EDIT: The guys will probably want to see some better photos, when you get a chance to take them. Use something like this as a template for what to photograph:
