Hello all, my name is Brian. I've been a collector of oddball things that go boom for a while but just recently got into historical pieces. Picked up a 1943 production 98k from a co-worker as a project rifle, will post pictures in the next couple days. After picking up the rifle and shouldering it, kind of fell in love. Rifle pictures
Hello all, these are pictures of the new to me rifle. According to the seller, this was brought back from WW2 by his grandfather. Im sure that story is as old as the rifles themselves. I have no idea on the actual lineage of this thing and would greatly appreciate any insight yall can add. Thanks guys and gals, Brian.

Thanks richie, hopefully those help. I pulled the rifle down to check the stock and trigger and those seem to match as well. Looks like all I'm missing is the bayonet lug pin. These rifles are awesome! So easy to strip down and clean/oil. Total newbie question, should i fire this? The bore looks perfect and i bought it with the intention of using it to harvest deer, but if it is verboten, please let me know.
