We will need more pictures, but the rifle looks like it has been cleaned. Concerning the Weimar, if its a DSM-34 it shouldn't have it because the DSM-34 was developed and issued for the Third Reich in 1934, hence DSM-34. Also, this is the first time I've ever seen or heard of a Weimar stamp on a DSM-34. Concerning the stamp, I will let others decide what it is... I'm not versed well in Weimar rifles. You might want to post in the Weimar rifle sub-thread.

These types of stamps were used on k98's till 39 so they should be nothing new to anyone. But, on a trainer yes. Eagle kg I feel is a depot mark. I'm trying to recall off the top of my head Konigsberg ? possibly.

looks legit and Id love the see the rest of the rife.

Hi

I can assure that the stock has not been touched. the rifle has about 95+ of the original blue. the bore is bright and shiny. and yes it was a steal.
I paid 650 usd for it. I dont think any one knew that these ones are very hard to find. an.d in this condition. by the way the symbol shown, is also
seen on the receiver.

On the right side of receiver is "deutsches sportmodel" and on the left side is " august menz suhl".
I will try to post more pictures later. by the way it is a great shooter. tried it at a 100 mtrs. it still makes tight groups.

I stand corrected.

It is a legit depot mark... Mauser99 was right it is Konigsberg. Wasn't sure where the rifle was made, but appears that Menz was located in Suhl... Maybe it was located in Poland or one of the eastern countries that the Third Reich took over... Konigsberg is in German Prussia, thinking that if it was a depot rifle it would go to the closest depot.

You'll need to take additional detailed pictures of the entire gun, maybe we can determine what work the depot did to the rifle.

Mauser99, weren't some of the the Gustloff KKWs in the 270k range sent to Depots to have the ZF41 attached?

See this post by FlyNaked about a stock he got..notice the same stamp on the right side. Is yours on the right or left? Attached a picture here of it.

you've got a very scarce example there my friend. Army procured and refurbished of some degree ? Need to see the whole rifle to figure what was done. Receiver also have the e/kg very nice. These aren't property marks but, acceptance of the depot after upgrade or repair.

After research I agree. We need to see lots of pics... no more teasing! You don't see as many Menz rifles as others, as they didn't make as many as other makers. To have it marked makes it that much more rare.

------------------

You might want to carefully take the action and barrel out of the stock and look at the bottom of the barrel and see if there are any marks. Also, anything on the grip area? Anything on the buttstock plate? Does the the bolt have a Serial Number on it and if so is it numbered to the rifle?

MENZ dsm-34's are fairly scarce a very small firm who made very few.. This could have been any rifle any maker I cant see it being anything specific to Menz it just happened to end up in army hands and was repaired at some point.

The consensus is or was that the dsm34 and kkw were commercial rifles for sale through normal channels and purchased by paramilitary organizations.

The army used the sub caliber kit exclusively not training rifles. This is now pretty much proven false.

The late Gustloff KKw's show a single waffenampt at production. This example shows much more. This proves we still haven't seen or know everything yet... Very cool...

Wow that's some beautiful Elm furniture there! I love the way the grain 'flows', especially on the road side. What a great piece and now it just seems even more like a steal. Congrats and thanks for sharing this rare piece. (I'd never heard of August Menz outside tiny pistols)

Hi

yes I also like the way the wood looks to me. I only gave it a little oil as it looked a bit dry. never touched it with anyting but a soft cloth an som oil. I will take out on the range to day and put a few rounds through it at 50 mtrs. only
shot it at a 100 mtrs, and it makes nice groups. the bore is bright and shiny with no spots.

That stock is straight up wood porn. Heavy is right, the grain is pretty awesome. You don't see many elm stocks, especially one with such crazy grain as yours.

Wow great condition on the ammo and none missing. How easy are they to acquire in Europe? 15 USD each and in that condition? That is crazy... if you can find them here they are 250-300 each and usually the condition isn't great. Too bad we can't import ammo into the US.

Hi

Yes they are in nice condition. I have a couple more boxes next week. same price. It seems we have different pricees there reg amo. I dont know about guns, but the k98's are going up a lot. even not a numbers matching, they can cost more than
a 1000 usd. the numbers matching costs perhaps around 1500 usd.
however these small bore rifles dont come up very often, but if I see another one, I will grab it. for sure
