I had been after a RG34 tin with a painted name or number for a bit, as well as wanting a nice named one. I didn’t think I would get it both on the same can, as well as the contents being really cool! I saw the exterior, and the wire chain and bought it immediately. I had to wait to see what type of chain, Oiler etc.
I was very very happy with the markings on the can. The name, Adolf Krowul? The second last letter I’m not sure. Nice and legible. And the paint marking. A company? Rifle? Who knows but nice off white paint like seen in helmet skirts. Then I pulled out the contents. A wire chain, with kcy marking and a welded wire loop on standard toggle! Very cool variant. Then the Oiler. A type 2 Appel, smooth. Indy and no slot in the top screw! In the bottom of the chain compartment, the chamber cleaning wadding was pushed all the way to the bottom. Probably to make that damn wire chain make less noise. Seems to have been in there a really long time. So likely the German or US vet. Seller stated untouched from an estate sale. I’m inclined to believe him, and won’t be adding the missing tool, or repositioning the wadding. All in all I’m just super happy with this one.
