1880 Spandau Kar 71

Hello all,

I have been lurking here for quite some time and figured it is about time I made a contribution. Here is an all matching 1880 Spandau Kar 71 that was issued to the 3rd squadron of the 5th Kürassier Regiment in 1888. From a very young age I was fortunate enough to to tag along with my father, Peter S and our close friend Craig Brown to our local shows and eventually the bigger shows like the SOS and National Gun Day. Through Craig I developed a huge interest in Imperial German arms and field gear. I acquired this carbine from Craig a few years before his passing when he started to sell some of his doubles.

Thanks,

Nick

The last of them unless anyone would like to see something specific.

Thank you for your kind reply’s. Yes I have few more rifles I think you guys would be interested in seeing that I will post in the future.

Yea just your garden variety of wartime examples of 98’s but unmolested and matching, a couple other 71’s and and an 88 when it comes to long guns.

I am also glad that Nick decided to start posting here, he and his father are first rate collectors and although they probably do not remember it, I met both at one of Peter Kucks Hartford shows (2002/03 probably - Peter had a table), I still remember them with a walk-in 33/40 they had picked up.

I updated your prior report on this carbine to reflect more detail. It is good to get more details on it, as there is a rifle similar to it Storz.
