G24t d block

Picked this up with the same group as the early SM, the DWM and 42 byf I already posted. Like all those this one has issues.

First, it is in a regular VZ24 stock. I assume an d bock G24(t) would be to far into production to be correct in anything but a G24(t) stock? Am I correct on that.
Second, the bolt is the correct matching bolt, but someone just couldn't resist the temptation to put a slight turn down bend in it. I assume a decent gunsmith could straighten that.

The guy whose collection these came from seemed to like to play with his collection, note the Swiss sling and South American muzzle cover. I think his motto was: "If it fits, use it".

Any markings or numbers on the underside of the stock?

Pat

There is the number "2" about 1/4 inch tall stamped under the pistol grip, just behind the trigger guard.

I need to disassemble it to clean, so I will see if there are any other markings inside the stock.

I did not see any numbers inside the stock channel, or evidence there ever was one. Inside the top of the hand guard, near are three small
numbers, 358???

The only external markings on the stock is the two on the bottom of the pistol grip.

There was some light surface rust under the hand guard that came off easily and the rest of the blue is very good, the bore is excellent.

I think it's exactly what it appears to be, a G.24(t) barreled action in a Vz.24 stock. Not original by any means, and who knows what happened to the original stock set. Even on a modified Czech stock, the German modifications (if legit) would be apparent and fairly predictable.

Depending on what you want to do, there is the occasional G.24(t) stock set that can be found in the wild, but that takes patience. As you noted, the now bent bolt is another strike, so you might want to take a hard look at what this is in it's current form, versus what you really want.

Thanks to a tip from another forum member, I was able to get a correct stock off of eBay. Hopefully correcting the bolt will not be two difficult, it is a pretty mild bend.
