New to me 1938 mauser '42' LK5 marked .

Hey everyone been meaning to share my 1938 k98 with you all. It came with a vz24 front sight guard. I baught it from a local gun store in british columbia canada as part of an estate sale. It also came with a non matching bayonet!

Thanks for looking!

Personally, I like what I am seeing. But lets wait and see what some others have to say.

Btw, cool you found this in BC.

I have a few questions.

I noticed a star along with the other markings on the back of the bolt anyone seen this before?

Also what does the s along with the serial number mean?

Anymore info on LK5 markings would be great!

Thanks for any information and I appreciate it.

The S is the serial suffix. Their numbering sequence was 1-9999, 1a-9999a etc etc

The LK5 I don’t think it truly known for fact yet. It was thoight to be a depot or something. I don’t see anything replaced on your gun, but I’m not well versed in reworked rifles.

LK is presumed to mean Luftgau Kommando, but its no certain. there is pleanty of research currently on going, but nothing is certain

Ive read that too, also ive heard its stamped on french rifles and some russian ones too. Does the 'H' stand for Heer army?
