Put it back together?

Last month I purchased an AR43 from a co-worker for $500. The rifle is in excellent shape and all matching that I can tell but it was missing some parts, the floorplate, trigger guard and follower were MIA. I bought replacements online but nowhere near matching. My real question is, would it make more sense to sell this one with missing parts and find something else to use as a deer rifle or put the parts on it and use it instead? I bought it with intention of harvesting game with it, but if I could turn around and get something more suited to the usage, I have no real connection to k98s and would rather see it in the hands of someone who would enjoy it as a collector. After lurking here for a while, I've noticed y'all take the collecting side more seriously than I do and have a real appreciation for these rifles above and beyond my level. Sorry for the long-winded explanation and thanks for any information.

If the parts you have are truly all factory matching, no forced matched numbers, then yes, you could sell it to someone who would properly restore it, and get enough to buy a K98k that has been drilled and tapped and turned into a sporter, would probably be better as a hunting rifle, and not expensive.

Here are some pictures, sorry for the quality, done on a phone.

Well it looks a nice matching AR 43 from the pictures shown. It would be possible to find an unnumbered floor plate and follower. What is the bore like?

The bore looks brand new,( like they all say) haha. The guy I bought it from said his grandad brought it back,( of course no paperwork, like they all say). ill take some good pictures tonight in natural light and put them up.

Here are some more pics outside in better light

If it were my rifle I would assemble it with the mismatched parts and chase a few rounds down it at the range and if I liked how it shot I wouldn’t hesitate to use it for a deer rifle. A few walks afield and a shot here and there isn’t going to hurt it.

With a matching bolt and stock, and what looks like an original sling, if you do not want to keep it for its historical value, you should consider selling it on the trader or listing it on gun broker. You could buy yourself a new Savage Axis with scope, and pocket the remaining $500+.

I’ve personally used both my matching k98 and matching type 99 for deer hunting. Just be careful and don’t go running through tree lines and you’ll be fine. One bullet here and there isn’t going to hurt them.

Just want to say thanks to Bruce and Dave for helping this rifle find a new home. Thanks again guys and hope you enjoy it Bruce!

Brian, your help and trip down to Daves are much appreciated.
This rifle is one of the last K98k's assembled at the Mauser Berlin plant and is a really nice part of Mauser history.

Best regards,
Bruce
