1st Skijäger Div. white washed STG’s

A buddy of mine sent these to me. Found it very interesting that they would white wash their weapons.

Also what looks like white M43 Ski caps.

IIRC, these are pictures from trials, not actual field use. That's a perfect opportunity for propaganda pictures so of course they want to make it look cool.
 
Note the Luftwaffe Gravity Knife hanging from the soldat's belt in the first picture.
 
Very interesting unit, and it seems like they were used as a test bed for new weapons. I love those anoraks.

Here's a pic I found of them from 1943, and possibly from a similar propaganda shoot. If it was a photo from an actual operation, I'd expect that squad to be spread out.
