IMG_9620.jpegIMG_9619.jpegIMG_9618.jpegWas in the local gun store and saw this today. Could not pass it up for the price of a RC. Looks like it just came out of grand pa’s closet, even has a spider web in the take down disc hole and wax ,grease that seals the action to the stock. Even though it is just a bolt mm, It’s been a long while since I have seen anything out of the woodwork locally so this was a bit exciting IMG_9613.jpegIMG_9612.jpegIMG_9611.jpegIMG_9610.jpegIMG_9609.jpegIMG_9608.jpegIMG_9607.jpeg

I like the two digit serial, and the broken fire proofs. The only marking on the cleaning rod is a k, and I don’t see any makings on the muzzle cover. I think the bolt is a JPS?

Like that 2 digit serial no. myself. Bluing looks good and great it has the sling. Does the sling buckle have L&F marked on it? Also have a 40 Borsigwalde with L&F marking. Good score!

Yes a very nice 1940 my favourite year.i have seen the grease used on bring backs from north africa here in New Zealand.

Thanks for the comments, felt really blessed to find it. I have another 243 1940 that is in the g block. The said a guy tried to buy it the day before but his background check got declined. What’s odd is they had another 98, a scrubbed yugo, post war stock with a bolt in the white that was 300 more than this was.

I had something happen similar to me a while back. My pawn shop that usually prices milsurps on the high end had a BYF43 bolt MM for below RC prices. Probably didn't know what it was worth. There was a mismatched asw43 bayonet on the shelf behind the gun counter and I asked if the bayonet came with. He threw it in with the rifle without hesitation. Lucky score for sure

Crazy about the other guy getting denied. Makes me wonder if it was a glitch or something and he didn't expect it. I worked at BassPro for a little bit and apparently errors and people getting accidentally flagged is more common than you would think. Somebody with a similar name could get arrested and then you get denied on your background check. You'd have to do an appeal to get it cleared up.

great rifle and you can see its an honest bringback. L marked stock ? lots of L and M marked guns in 40-41 production @ mauser berlin.

Thanks, it definitely has that bring back vibe. There was white paint drops on the metal I cleaned on and one on the wood I left. I think the stock is Heer marked, but will look again. the stamps are there but faint like a lot of laminates.
