Hey Guys i have recently purchased an AX coded 1941 98k action only. Its absolutely flawless and looks brand new I want to build a classic european sporter hunting rifle in 8mm Mauser with fancy walnut stock with this action. My question is I am confused about stock inletting what Mauser 98 stock should I be purchasing Interarms, Zastava, FN, Turkish, Parker Hale or are they all the same and all of them will fit my action? Can't seem to get any straight answers elsewhere on the net any help would be greatly appreciated.

It will fit any stock for a standard-length large ring Mauser 98 action. If this is already a stripped receiver with bolt, I say no harm, no foul on building it into a sporter. Trying to "restore" it into a parts gun isn't really any better than a well-executed sporter.

K98k mauser actions are full length mauser 98 actions. So any stock that specifys its a mauser 98 stock should fit. If you see a stock for sale and it specifys its for a intermediate length mauser 98, then it will not fit. Here in the states Boyds gun stocks is a good go to for aftermarket sporter stocks. Not sure if they sell overseas.

I think the only thing you may have to worry about when purchasing a stock inletted for the various commercial M98 actions is the area around the front trigger guard screw. If you're using the original trigger guard with the locking screw, it may be too long to fit the inletting for some commercial actions as they don't typically have the locking screw and use a slightly shorter profile. It's easy to enlarge the area though if that's the case.
