Hey ncreptile...whats the box in the middle of your photo? The red ring is throwing me off. I recognize everything else in the photo. Looks like good stuff!

John.
The box says it's 1940? S.s. standard ball ammo.
But the red ring and the red primer sealant makes me think it's Trop ammo. It shot very well.

I'd like a couple of boxes with the orange/white triangle on the label if the ammo insided is original to the box.

Just got it this morning.. My truck was sagging in the rear quite a bit driving it home from the freight place.
So, here's the findings. All of it is mid 30s to 1942, I have not seen any ammo later than 1942. The majority of the ammo is brass cased but it's a small majority.(I'd say 60/40 in favor of brass over steel case). Half seems to have stripper clips, some of the clips are aluminum but a lot are the nice brass clips. There's a good mix of standard ball S.s. ammo as well as SMK armor piercing. The boxes and labels are in very nice shape with a few exceptions that are torn.

I'm doing the video today along with a range video where I will test fire a box of 4-5 different variants and will post it here tomorrow.

I also have a couple other surprise ammunition types that I'll have in the video tomorrow but don't want to announce until then. I've chosen a couple of the nastier boxes/already torn boxes to shoot from so nothing super collectible will be destroyed to make the video.
Definitely following and looking forward to getting some

will you be posting for sale here or on the mosin crate?

Red primer sealant? I guess it was armor piercing tropical ammo. Ive run across ww2 german ammo that has the wrong label on the box before.

@ Tropical
Sorry, it's been a long day. The box was SMK AP but was not Tropical marked, tend to think you're right that it was trop ammo. It shot well, I wanted to use torn/bad boxes for the test firing footage so people that order wouldnt end up with those(if possible, obviously there will be torn/bad shape boxes mixed in here and there.)

@"Will you be selling on the site."
If you want 300rd or more, order through the website TheMosinCrate.com, it'll be up tomorrow afternoon for preview and available Wednesday morning.
For those of you wanting less ammo, I'm going to try and pull a thousand or so rounds to the side just for k98kforum but it'll all be chosen at random.. I have around 25k rounds to sell/ship so it's hard for me to separate and individually research/price every variation as I'm a one man store. I understand that's a bit frustrating and apologize.

More tomorrow!

This is a great thread. Can't wait to get my hands on some of this ammo.

Forgive the horrid shooting. I was worn out by the time we went to the range.

Again it's on the site www.themosincrate.com It'll be available for purchase tomorrow.
Also have some very uncommon SMKH tugsten core ammo which is very pricey.

If you want 300+rd order it through the site tomorrow, otherwise I'll have smaller lots on here for yall later in the week. It's all randomly chosen.

Thanks!

Very cool! I dont think ive ever seen anyone shoot the SMKH tungsten rounds before. They quite clearly do the trick. Looking forward to any batches you happen to list on here. I bought a Bulgarian makarov off of you years ago, ive probably put a thousand rounds through that thing.

No sir, it's all going to be mixed. That way no one person gets all the rarer stuff. I may do that later if I have any unopened/left over. Just going to get moved what I can tomorrow and go from there.

The boom time was when J&G (AZ) had them for 30-odd bucks a Trageslaufe in the early 2000s. GOOD times!

Pat

I got at least 5000 rounds of this from J&G sales. They were $23.50 for a 300 round pack. I was getting 900 rounds shipped for around 100 bucks. The ammo I got was dated from 1934 to 1939, all brass cased. I fired some of this through my TNW MG34. But didnt trash the boxes. I collected the spent brass and made dummy rounds with them, then listed them on Ebay with the original 15 round boxes, 30 rounds at a time. The money I made on the dummy rounds was rolled right back into more of this from J&G until they ran out of it. Those were good times.

The mid-1930's P131 8mm K-Mart ball ammo I have all has bullet and primer sealant. Some is red, some green. The color doesn't seem to have anything to do with ammo type.

It absolutely does. Green primer sealant is ball ammo. Red primer sealant is AP. Bullet/neck sealant is tropical loading. Green is S.s. patronen, red is AP. Something with a black bullet/neck sealant would be a P.M.K round.
