Not a rework but something I had not researched till I found it. Found in a store for 1G and knew just enough to buy for the price.

Yeah, for 1k you did great. A steal, really. Magazine does not appear to be factory numbered, but work looks period.

Eventually I will get around to looking closer into these Orpo guns and the Police acceptance.

I enjoy seeing these police banners with the sear safety, something different! Your pistol falls right in a range of Eagle C accepted Mauser banner lugers (1200w to 2500w). The magazine you show was produced after this pistol left the factory. The Eagle 37, extruded concave pinned magazines first appear in the "o block" of 1941. Your pistol would have shipped with 3 numbered magazines that would have been nickel color with 1,2 or 3 stamped at the top and the letter suffix w at the bottom (example attached). That being said, Haenel (fxo) did supply spare magazines to the police and this appears to me to be a legitimate replacement numbered magazine. You got a fantastic deal on it thanks for sharing!

I believe the mag is not only period done, but correct for the pistol as it left police rework. See the sear safety that indicates police service. Rarely will you see a police magazine with a suffix following rework and reassignment of new magazines to a pistol.

Also, look at the barrel numbers. It appears the barrel was replaced during the rework as well.

Kinda looks like Mauser font on the barrel to me.

I think I showed all markings. Since I was not familiar with these variations I compared to other know pistols and all markings on gun seem correct. Other guns had different fonts on frame barrel and even mags.
Mag is only real question to me

Several to compare to
