Got this Luger in trade awhile back. Pretty standard 1918 Erfurt Police sear safety example. All matching, poor bore condition and mismatch magazine. However... "Benz" is crudely stamped on the left side and front grip of the frame. Font doesn't really look German, but it was applied long ago. Possibilities are that this is a GI applied name stamp, some kind of police property mark or (at a real stretch) a Mercedes Benz factory security force mark. I think the latter is improbable. Thoughts?
