Recently picked up this BNZ 43 d-block rifle. Finish is almost gone. Barrel code is 77 W Bö followed by a single e/623. Cocking piece is mismatched, but Steyr production. Bolt looks like a possible factory renumber? Looks like the bolt was serialized as 989 and 3 was stamped over the 8.

Steyr is notorious for doing this kind of thing. I'd say it's most likely original. Cocking piece, of course is a likely replacement.
Is there a waff on the safety?

I agree, legit imo, - and I am not that big on factory errors, but this is legit imo..

Yes, single E/77

Is it just me or is the 3 on the receiver really funky? A really cool piece though!
I think the "9" stamps they used were a smaller size than typically used on the receiver and it makes the "3" look huge. Funky indeed, but I still think it's legit. The large 77 on the barrel is a gas too. That's what I love about Steyr, something new and different always pops up. o_O 🤪 :ROFLMAO: :) (y)
