I’ve shuffled a lot of stuff around over the years but still have this walnut byf43 that’s all matching. I found it in a gun shop in RI. Do you guys still have the first nice matching one you found?

I'm not sure I have a 'nice matching' rifle but I do have my first. Also a byf43 but an RC in laminate furniture. It's been my primary deer rifle and I love it.

Wow, that is a dream rifle right there. I still have mine but I'm not sure if its nice lol... non matching stock and bands, obviously sanded stock, some weird grinding around the front lip that holds the handguard down, stripped buttplate screw. Still fun to shoot though. Its a byf45.

Yep I do. Acquired it by removing it from my dad's bedroom closet. In fact I also purchased a BYF 44 mix-matcher for $200 from a gun shop in R.I. back in the early 90s. They ran an ad in a newspaper showing some pics of the 98ks in varying condition. Needed one I could actually shoot. Ran a box of Remington 8mm ammo through it. Expensive even back then compared to a box of PPU. By the way sure like that stock on your BYF. Stamps look great.

Yep, I do . Its a matching BNZ 45. I had made the mistake of selling it but was able to buy it back.

Unfortunately no, I hope someone here has it and it’s making them happy.

I don’t have my first matching one, but I have my first one. My first matching one ended up in PA and hadn’t been seen since, I still look for it - byf42 2042h.

Yes, still have my first one, it's a bolt mismatch:facepalm: 1940 660 that I bought around 1968 for around $60 with a bayonet and no import makings.

I have my first one. Purchased it at a gun show that was at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Virginia back around 2014. Mine is a mismatched bnz 43.

I have my first one an American capture... 1939 S/42 laminate bolt mismatch. got it 11 years ago after saving my chores money and for Getting straight A’s for like two years. Call of Duty 3 for Xbox made me get into them.

Need to find an all matching variant of that.

I’m in my 20’s now btw no need to be worried

Yep, byf44. All matching, mint bore and incredibly accurate. Actually, it found ME. I built a target pistol for a big music star, and he came up short on the money he owed me. He hoped that the Mauser and a NIB Colt Government Model would make up the difference.

I needed the money instead, but someone who knew this guy said "Take the guns Richie, because you'll likely never see this cat again!"

So I took the guns. And, I never saw that guy again!

Bolt mismatch duv41. Lightly sanded. Paid the princely sum of 125 with a bayonet, that was around 1984.

I do. It's an excellent original condition matching L block byf44 that I acquired from a friend in the late 70s.

Sure sounds like the 70s and 80s were the time to buy milsurps. Some may recall that $25 Type 99 a friend bought back in 72 from our favorite LGS. Giving them away compared to prices these days. Thanks to all who posted.

Got a late war kriegsmodel Arisaka at an auction for 35 bucks in 97. I was the only bidder.
