dou 48

I recently purchased a rifle that has dou and 48 below it on the top of the rifle. It's marked with the eagle stamp on the side of it. I can't figure out when it was made. Any help would be appreciated.

OK, the one pic helps, now we want MORE! please
full left & right views, a close up of the left side of the receiver & barrel (1st 2 inches, where firing proof & barrel sn are)
same close view of the marks on the right side of the receiver and of any other marks on steel or wood. is there a lower case letter below the serial # on the receiver? knowing what that letter is can help lead to an approximate production date.

the rifle was made at Povzska Bystrica in occupied Slovakia, at the arms factory the Germans call Brunn II. Knowing the letter block helps date the rifle.

I'll send better pictures later today. Thanks for the help.

" made at Povzska Bystrica in occupied Slovakia, at the arms factory the Germans call Brunn II."
Germans never call plant II of Waffenwerke Bruenn only Brunn II, it was in one report of production and comparation between various plants, where there was not enough place for correct designation, but germans wrote about them certainly as WWB, Werk Waag Bystritz when in german language. And Slovakia was not occupied prior autumn 1944 so it was not occupied by germans, the plant was brought to german control with majority of buing join stock of mother organisation in Protektorat. Only for clearing the facts. here a origin document about change of Vz.24 production into Kar98k, in reality half name is named german language Waag and the last name in slovak version.

of course @AndyB is correct in those details, I was merely trying to offer a short version.

greg: it looks like an ‘l’ (lower case L) for the block letter which can lead to a date range. from your photos it appears the bolt assembly is mismatched to the receiver, but looks matching unto itself. this is pretty common w/K98k rifles. as you are able, good clear close ups of all those tiny stamps with an eagle above and a number below or “WaA +#” tell something about who made the parts & when, same for any you may see on the wood on the right side of the butt, & on the stock keel below the palm swell.
