DWM model 98 Brazilian contract rifle 7x57

Some pictures of my DWM Brazilian contract rifle in, what I would call in my totally inexperienced opinion, very good condition considering its age. All the numbers match from what I can see, bore looks decent with the naked eye, wood has lots of character and charm while not chipped or refinished at all. It has the old greasy feel of wood that has touched many hands. The action functions flawlessly and smoothly. It is missing a cleaning rod and a bayonet but I’m sure I’ll be able to find some used but good ones for it. Also has an old leather sling that I’m not sure of the Origen of but it looks old and well loved

My uncle gave this to me for my birthday. He’s had it for close to 35 years. He got it from his childhood friend’s father who was a B-17 navigator in WW2 and doesn’t know the origin before that. I think it’s a really cool addition to my small but growing collection of “old family guns that I saved from the pawnshop”

Let me know what you guys think about its condition, rarity, anything cool or interesting you can tell me about it. I can take more pictures if there’s something else you’d like to see. Cheers 🍻

nice example (I’m no expert tho) & decent photography for indoors. when you can, try some shots outdoors on a cloudy (but not dark) day, the stock wood is really nice, it’ll really ‘pop’ in better lighting. My first Mauser was/is a DWM M1909 cavalry carbine that was heavily sportered, but it called my name……..

Thank your uncle !!

Your right! The pics do look better outside in the sun. Take a look!

looks nice, I’d change the sling to something quick adjusting, but that’s me. Liberty Tree Collectors in Maine has some that might work. (hate those hooky kind, impossible to adjust when leather gets old)
