Yeah I hear you. I did not know their early ones were f'd up. I know some of theirs look really good and if you don't know better you wouldn't know. I've said this before about RCs. Some are 'handsome' and some look like a$$. Big X, stove black paint and shellacked like they dunked the entire rifle in it.

Bingo, That and nobody working at Mitchell's Mausers has an IQ greater than a Toaster.
 
Mitchells Mausers were the hook into many collectors first guns. We didnt know any better. Back when rusty, pinged K98's were 299, Mitchells came along with these seemingly brand new guns for 599. It was a no brainer. Why would I spend 300 bucks on a rusty beater when these guys offered a brand new, factory blued gun with unused stock and a bag of accessories? Many of us just didnt know better back then. Mitchells was pretty liberal with their advertising techniques.....it worked on many of us.
 
After having this for awhile, the unfinished bolt is really starting to bother me.

Is there any reason I shouldn't get the bolt blued? I looked into just getting a replacement bolt, but they seem expensive and not easy to find.

Do it to it. Blue will help knock the pimp off of it.
There's also a mismatched original finish bolt on the trader
