G98M Markings

I'm fairly new to G98M transitional rifles and looking for some information on a few codes. Overall, the rifle is an all matching 1916 Danzig Gewehr 98 that is 1920 Weimar property marked, that was then rebuilt during the interwar period. Additionally, it was rebuilt during the Nazi period.

I'm looking to solve the 'SU25' on the barrel band (Spandau? Zeithan?), barrel codes: S, K8C, 3x stick wing eagle/81, and 1x smaller stick wing eagle/6, and the buttplate WaA655. I'd like to ideally work out a rough timeline of the rifles rebuild history. Additionally, I'm looking for a resource on depot cartouches during the interwar period.

Please refer to my post here for more information: (https://www.k98kforum.com/threads/1916-danzig-1920-weimar-wwii-re-work.60105/). Thank. you!

I think it was mentioned that the Su25 is an inspection of the depot at Spandau, Heereszeugamt Spandau. These Su25 rear bands are not uncommon and were either made in house at Spandau or subcontracted by the depot for use on 98M upgrades. Probably the former IMO, but could be the later. I would hazard a guess the markings date from the later half of the 1920s. Spandau also made spare Luger barrels and you can find them with the Su25 inspection.

WaA81 barrel maker may or may not be Simson, and the K8C is the barrel code. K is probably Krupp, the steel supplier, and 8C is the lot number. Obviously, the WaA655 buttplate was made 1940/41 by Mauser. These Gew98M were well used and reworked often several times over their life times, so any sort of timeline is usually difficult if not impossible.

Depot markings interwar are fairly limited. You have the B-S/BS (possibly early Spandau) and KS (unknown) markings, Cl for Cassel, Su for Spandau, and Zn for Zeithain.

Thank you for the information! It is much appreciated.

Im also in process of getting g98m Danzig
I mostly wanted a shooter and was attracted to the beautiful arsenal refinish, pristine bluing.

No import marks. Non matching. At first I thought that was from limited resources in 1935 but my colleague said it was probably not that case, and happened later at some depot during wartime to fit parts together.
Anyway, this also has a few stick eagles on the right side of the proximal barrel under the tangent site. I can’t tell if the stock is original, almost looks like Beech with a very pretty tiger striped pattern. Still shows cartouche but hard to discern.

Your rifle screams Spanish cival war aid rifle to the nationalists. Typically all rifles the Germans sent (pretty much all Gewehr 98M's) too Spain ended up like yours during the Spaniards rebuild process where they mismatched everything.
