MG34 just sold on GB -

34's are a great gun to have extra parts (actually I guess all belt fed guns). Once you get the right combo of parts in the receiver they run great. Ours took some trial and error too. I'm not sure what the 3R life of a 34 was, but it had to have been better than an mg42 being all machined. The biggest weak spot for me on the 34 is the dainty charging handle. Too thin and frail in a couple spots
Really? I’m rather fond of the handle. Not a big fan of the plate it’s mounted too though. That thing is borderline sheet metal.

What was really really fun is that at some point the hinge on the top cover on this one had been bent open, just enough where the top cover would stay on, but enough where the feed prawls didn’t make good consistent contact with the rounds. So all I’d get is nonstop failure to feed issues. Between fixing that and stripping 8000lbs of dried grease out of it and regreasing it it runs really well. Tons of fun with the lafette mount it’s on now too. My backstop hates me for what i’m doing to it though.

Wish mg34s were easier on brass ammo tho.

And funny enough it barely worked when I got it. Took me 4 days of work to get it running properly. They didn’t test fire it.

Also 3 of the 4 barrels were actually israeli.
Only 1 was german issue.
Well, congrats on the MG34, it looks like a nice one! That's gotta a be a blast to shoot now that it's working again. How exactly did you fix the hinge on the top cover? And got any new pics of it to share?

MG34 album here’s an imugr album. The file size limit on here drives me up a wall.

Honestly, i just had a friend put the hinge in a vice at his mechanic shop and tightened it little bit. Idk how they spread the hinge open at some point, or how lock stock and barrel missed the worlds loosest top cover but whatever. Works now. Same condition.

Congrats!!!

You say that 3 barrels are from Israel. Could you please post some pix of their markings? Everybody knows the ISR MG34s, but legit ISR marks on parts are not so well known, are they?

Thanks in advance!

Great pix, thank you!!

No, I don't think pix of the 3rd one are necessary, the pattern is quite clear.

Thanks a lot!

PS: my dot 43 and my spare barrel. Deactivated, though.
