MP43

As promised on an earlier thread, here are pictures of my MP43. This model was produced for a very short time and I believe concurrently with the MP43/1. I was lucky enough to purchase this piece from the original owners family before the skyrocketing prices made these unobtanium. It was brought back by the veteran who picked it up off the ground in Belgium around the time of the battle of the bulge. With his his passing, the weapon was handed down to a nephew, who became Sheriff of a small town north of Orlando. Luckily being a law officer, he had the wherewithal to register the weapon following the GCA of '68. It was from this Sheriff that I purchased the weapon around 1984 as he needed money in his retirement. I have a copy of the original amnisty paper but writing on the dociment has faded away like a Pep Boys battery guarantee receipt. I can still read it in certain light, but photos would be useless. Please note the early bolt characteristics and the original instructions that already say MP44. Also note the veterans name, Charles R. Smith, stamped into the metal on the left side of the butt stock. Any comments or additional info are more than welcome.

last group. It runs flawlessly. Has anyone ever seen an MP43 marked instructions booklet?

Wow...just wow...the top of the top shelf!!!! On pic 8 could you blow up the text where the butt stock joins the metal.....? Some numbers there?

Thank you all for the great comments and feedback. The thanks really goes to Chas.R.Smith.
If I had been born smart instead of good looking, I would never have sold my MG42. You should have seen that thing. Let it go about 15 years ago. Was virtually brand new. I took it to the range several times and after a 250 round belt, the barrel would almost ignite paper. Had to wait a 1/2 hour before we could put it in the car.

Really beautiful example. I can see you regretting letting the MG go. One thing I really regret is not getting into these when they were still affordable.
