I think they are simply peened to keep them in, but not difficult to break them loose. One of my rifles will allow the pin to walk out. It needs to be peened but I'm not hammering on it.Is the pin the holds the trigger group to the receiver designed to be removed? Mine seems like it can slide out to the left but not the right. Is it supposed to be permanently fixed? May just be a bad peen on the right side if it is supposed to be fixed.
I am the "happy" owner of a BD44, purchased in 2010 from the Canadian importer. My bad… I forgot the buttstock pin also held the rear of the trigger group. My apologies for the miscommunication.
That is correct. Both sides of the pin should be flared evenly. MP40 series uses these on many partsRoos... from what I understand and I think what you are saying is that the pin is pressed from both sides and the edges of both ends flare (bend) out a bit and hold the pin permanently in place. I think my pin was probably not pressed evenly as one side has a much larger raised lip than the side that wants to slide through the receiver so that one side is basically flush with the side of the receiver.
For now I'm trying M1-Garands trick of a couple of drops of Locktite on both sides.
