On the advise from a friend I picked up this 42 ASW. I really like it! What can you tell me about it? The portapee came on it. Is that normal for a field use type of bayonet? Thanks!!

Looks like a nice condition piece for 42. I can’t say much about the portapee on a combat bayonet, but someone will know.

42asw looks like very nice condition the frog is mostly LW so the NCO Staab trodell is probably here not correct, should be LW Faustriemen. 42 asw - E.uF.Hoerster Solingen under code asw in 1942, d range early production even with mixed WaA on parts.

Thank you Andy!..Regarding the mixed WaA, would that mean that perhaps the latch plunger possibly could have been replaced sometime after original manufacture?

the press button should be correct, mixed WaA883 continued fluently into WaA519, which means some parts could be earlier made as the end proof by WaA519.
