There is an apparent bnz42 'single rune' on a popular auction site.
Now, right out of the gate I do not like the trigger guard, floor plate, or front band numbers. To my eyes they are all bad. I am also doubtful of the bolt serials. The stock also appears to be an MO.
However, the receiver itself is kind of interesting. Appears to be a Steyr made bnz42 with a 'single rune' stamp. The receiver has no final acceptance. There is no letter suffix to the serial. And the firing proof appears to be that unique style of eagle that shows up on some early SS contract rifles. Also the barrel code (CircleW Bo) lines up with very early SS contract production.
So, is it possible that this barreled receiver is actually a legit SS contract example using a diverted bnz42 receiver? Would love to know some others thoughts on this.
