Hi,
Been asked to show this Soldbuch of a Stuka crew member Dkig, Ic1,Ic2 and honour goblet. later I believe also a pilot, its a replacement book issued 26/mai /43 signed by Rudel who was in charge for a short period at that time,
Any help would be appreciated especially with the other signitures in the book ,like who signed his Immelmann cuftitle award which is also reminiscent of a rude variation signiture, and the ones in the back my also be high ranking Kc winners.
Mark

Hello Mark,

First of all, thanks for taking your time to post this one on this forum!

It is like you already know a replacement Soldbuch, thus we can pick up the soldiers story often only from the day the Soldbuch was opened.
In this case it seems to be an even more difficult task because the important pages have been taken out, for example the unit page and the one with his awards.
Because his DKiG is confirmed he is listed:
https://www.tracesofwar.com/persons/27913/Wunderlich-Ambros.htm
A little bit of extra information I found online:
https://www.forum-der-wehrmacht.de/index.php?thread/48230-wunderlich-ambros-dkig/
He was a Sudeten German and was a member of the NSDAP.
The Lexikon page about his unit:
http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gliederungen/Stukageschwader/SG2.htm
From the Soldbuch I can't tell if he was a pilot or radio operator/rear gunner.
In 1941 he was temporarly unfit to fly because of tonsillitis and in April/May he had an ear infection. It seems he wasn't wounded ones, which is odd and he was most likely a very lucky guy.
There are several books written about the Immelmann Geschwader and I'am pretty sure you'll find more information about him in those books.

Is his picture on the cover of the Soldbuch?

Cheers,
Peter

Hello,
but in September 1944 he was assigned to the FSK for some reason. (page 11, top)

Thanks
Wolfgang

Good point Wolfgang!
I took another look and it seems he wasn't on active duty as a pilot or radio operator/gunner anymore from april 1944 onwards because of his medical problems, after he was discharged from hospital he ended up in the forest service and flew with the NSDAP pilot club.

Hi,
Thanks for adding some bits I didn't know, the photo unfortunately has been removed am I am unable to find a photo him on the net,
He was issued flight gear and there is a entry for LN Schule 3.
unfit for combat 7/4/41 but fit for pilot on 5/6/41,
conformation for flying pay on page 19
so a air gunner/radio operator, interesting that he went to the forestry service perhaps for some R and R but seems to be back in squadron in late 44 and into 45.
Any ideas as to the late entries.
Thanks Mark

Mark, their is a leave entry for January 1945 and then he is with a non-combat unit, I seriously doubt that he flew combat missions after April 1944.

Hi Mark, are you the owner of this Soldbuch?
I know the Family Wunderlich - his wife lives 10km next to me.

Regards Martin
