Can anyone help me decipher what the markings are on the stock of this k98 and please give me an opinion on whether it looks like a good one.

How much is it worth do you think?
More photos are needed.... No one ever seems to include photos of the most important parts of these rifles, it's always the same far away pictures that don't matter and don't show anything. Most importantly, a bolt photo is needed. The stock it a replacement, so there's that. Along with the stock is its hardware, which is also not matching and incorrect for a dot 1944. Chances are this rifle is just a shooter, probably worth around $700.

As mentioned by heavy_mech, the stock bands are the first sign. They should be stamped metal not milled. Take a look at the reference section here on the forum to see what a correct, vetted dot 44 should look like.

I think the Yugoslav refurbished stock and the bands were used to restore a barreled action back to a complete rifle by a previous owner. The rifle itself seems to have no connection to Yugoslav service. Agree with the shooter assessment.

It has a crown over a u sign on the receiver which I’m sure I read before is a 1950’s German inspection mark is that correct ?

Gun arrived today ..
