Update on FG42 from SMG Guns

Been a little quiet on this thread. I got my Type 1 last week, it's a masterpiece.

8mm, Lacquer finish, walnut handguard with the winter trigger guard, adjustable rear sight and scope.

The hardest part it going to be accumulating the honest wear to make it blend in with the rest of my WW2 collection..

Send it my way, I can help you put some wear on it 😆

There is a guy on the AKforum that wears rifles in for the battlefield look. Sometimes he starts by dragging them behind a golf cart.

When i get brave I am going to shoot about 100 rounds thru the rifle and see how the lacquer chips. If it doesn’t chip well from the ejected rnds I may have it painted. Then start wearing it in artificially. Does anyone know if the original rifles were black oxided or parkerized prior to being painted? The rifle at Kablenz has the most fantastic looking patina I have seen.

I just got my t-1 today. Its awesome. I got the lacquer finish and it looks great. I might go to the range on Sunday so Ill see how it wears.

Okay, so about a year after I ordered mine..........Fingers crossed!
It's a bit odd on the wait times. For some its ~2.5 years, some ~3.5 years. I sent a email to Rick back in August if the wait time is still averaging around 3 years, and was told, "Where are you getting this when the email I sent you said about a year didn't it? Maybe I missed something. We are normally way behind but not that far!"

Either way, the wait time isn't a big deal for me. I've already gotten married, bought a house, and had a kid since getting on the list, so a bit of time to recoup some funds certainly won't hurt me.

Rick has had problems w / qualified help, and getting materials from some suppliers.

I am thankful he has not compromised quality ......

Cheap, poorly fitted, shoddy, sh!t is never the way to go!!!!!!

Absolutely true on all statements, can't argue against any of them.

It is odd though how he still claims a year time frame, and jumped me for asking if it was still a ~3 year wait as if that has never at all happened despite seeming to be quite the norm.

Yeah it took me 3 years and 2 months, crazy that he reacted that way. Rifle is still amazing though and am very happy with it, deff worth the wait!
