What is the correct bayonet for k98b's? Gew98 or k98 bayonet?

I found this k98b i was thinking about buying. Its kind of a weird one. It looks like a k98b that sumone put a gew98 bolt on. It has the wrong rear barrel band and im wondering the k98bs were supposed to have been changed to accept the k98 bayonet? This rifles comes with a gew 98 bayonet and it lookslike it fits ok. Thanks for the info. An extensive google search turned up nothing. If its supposed to use a k98 bayonet like i thought, that would also be odd about it.

Off-hand I do not have pictures to go through (period pictures in use) but the Sg98/05 with Republican era features, blued, unit markings, etc... would be a good choice, but I would also favor or at least consider a Sg84/98 III made by WuK (WKC), these are period to the 98b and date to the latter ranges of production, They can be expensive but they are good investments if you buy quality, - few things from the Republican period are highly sought after, or rather have a strong following by category (quality is always in demand on individual items of any type, but general themes have limited following, largely because rarity in upper grades), but 98b, P08 and WuK bayonets are liquid as cash generally (if quality).

What type of bayonet is this?

Looks shortened, originally a Sg98/05, - I wouldn't buy that and only accept it as part of a larger deal (along with a decent rifle), probably Turked, and probably hard to move if you get it... personally I could use it in my garden...

Thanks I wouldve never known that. Too bad its been shortened :( i already bought it so its too late now lol. I really wanted a 1920 stamped and ww1 date k98b thats y i bought it. There hasnt been many floating around and it was the last rifle i needed to complete my ww1 collection so i decided to take it in.

Oh ok it looks like the sg98 05s were 37 cms so if its shorter than that then its deff shortened or "turked?" It should be here in a couple days i cant wait to get it. Ill be ok if it is shortened. I have a shortened label bayonet with the curve thing cut off and a sharpened arisaka bayonet lol. The good ones are so pricey sum of them are like half the cost of the gun!

It is a small matter, WMO/16 Sg98/05 are rather common, not too much value lost. I am hoping for the best in this case, really the auction was poorly illustrated and it isn't your fault as with 79 pictures, many repetitive, it seems unbelievable this wasn't purposeful. (through millions vote demoncrat every election... so there is no accounting for self-destructive behavior and or idiocy.)
