1917 Danzig 1920 rework

Thought I'd share this one. I've had for about 5 years now. I bought on the cheap ($250) and couldn't be more pleased. Bolt mismatch, looks like a Simson rebarrel (guess based on the eagle) 1920 stamp on receiver and left side of stock. Cool stock repair as well.

I recognize the bolt... those are hard to find.

The barrel is JPS, not Simson (The depot at Kassel reworked this rifle, assuming the stock matches, it has its acceptance on the side of the stock. A "Cl", which means it dates to the early 1920's, Cassel went to Kassel in the mid-20's, - pretty sure it is in Mike's book, he and maybe Wolfgang discovered this tidbit..), the "1920" is a property markings, the stickie links detail the meaning and history behind it. This rifle came in the 1990's imports, part of a lot purchased by Marion Mericle, a dealer-collector in Georgia. He described the rifle in the MRJ (1996), though this particular rifle didn't get much coverage, just the bare facts. The rifle was sold in 2011 from a guy who typically sells some of Marion's rifles on the internet. "Der Kaiser", also out of GA. FYI if interested...

BTW, I see these same pictures were used on Gunboards, - any reply there?

Thanks as always Paul--

I have these pictures listed (same pictures) as Gunboards November 16, 1915, but i didn't save the text. I don't go anywhere else but Dave's forum and sometimes, when insomnia hits me, I pass through WA...

Interesting-They are fairly old pictures though, so I must have just forgotten. I was going through my pictures folder and came across them this evening. I'll have to check my Gunboards history and see if I can find the thread.

Anyway, I appreciate the insight as ever.

Another neat rifle chrisftk. Personally I like the repair work they did on the end of the stock I have seen that repaired job on a few K98k models and Gew98 pieces in the past.
