Help with identifying 1941 K98k

Looking to buy my first German Mauser and wanted some help to see if this is a good buy and if it's a legitimate rifle and not a fake. Rifle is supposedly a 1941 rifle with a mismatched bolt and EP on the bolt. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

more info (more pics) is needed to provide you more info. A "good buy" is impossible to make comment w/o asking price and more info...

That's all the pictures I have now, mainly wanted to see if the stock at least looked like a ww2 Mauser and the few markings that can be made out. The price is at $600. I'll try to get some more pictures.

As Bob said, more photos would be needed to make an assessment. K98s are one of those rifles that you need photos of every detail. 600 isn't bad, that's Russian capture prices and that's what you've probably got with the EP bolt. The stock looks sanded, but other than that I can't make out anything else.

I’m looking at buying this house. Can anyone tell me if it’s a fair deal?

Not trying to be a dick, but this is effectively what you’re doing. Hell, it could be a Turkish Mauser crammed into a Yugo K98 stock. There simply is no way to tell. If the guy wants $600 from you, tell him you want better pics from him. If he balks, walk.

Your pics are sufficient to answer your questions: I can confirm that it appears to be an actual rifle.

What does a "hand stamp bnz" indicate?

So couple things. We're talking about how the top of the receiver is marked, roll marked vs. hand stamped. This example started out as a Mauser Oberndorf produced in 1941 (roll marked byf 41). It later became a salvaged receiver and was put into regular production at Steyr (hand stamped bnz) to make up for shortages of finished receivers.

That's pretty cool actually! I'm hoping to get more pictures and find out a little bit more about the gun before I buy it.

Picked up the rifle today and took some more pictures. Anything else to add? I got it for $550 and a re-pro sling. I hope I made a good buy!

I looked online and was at a gun show the other week and saw 3 RC's get sold for $650. That's all I'm concerned that I didn't get a "fake" or over pay for something. I also saw on cabelas a Russian capture k98 for $900 and I thought that was on the high side.
