New to forum just picked up a vet bring back BSW DSM-34. serial 136xxx num matching except barrel band most parts are simpson marked s in triangle. With what looks like a very small SA property mark on bottom of grip, BSM in square on left of stock and 3 pyramids with S in middle on bottom of barrel close to rec. and SOLD Bd on stock disk. my question are those markings truely SA and what do the 3 pyramids with s stand for, BSM in square, and markings on stock disk. Do those markings detract from the value thanks for the help..

The pyramid w/ "S" is Simson's logo.... not a SA IMO, and belong to a shooting club of sorts with the Sold. Bd.

Ok thanks what about the stamped BMS in a square on left of stock, shooting club also?

Can you post a picture of the BMS mark? I also have a BSW DSM-34 serialed about 2500 less than yours that has Simson-marked parts (S in a triangle). The Sold. Bd. is probably Soldatenbund, a veterans association during the mid-1930's. My rifle is marked with that on the left stempelplatte. These are very nicely made smallbore rifles.

Here's a pic of the BMS mark and stock disk, would like to hand this down to my son one day. Whats the current value of these rifles for insurance purposes.

Thanks for posting.

I thought I responded to you when you pm'd me on gunboards.. Anyway. it seems to be a real early BSW dsm34 using up simson marked parts.. I havent had the time to look at me serial number data base. There may be overlap between seeing Simson and BSW marked receivers. This is kinda common with this firm. They used a serial system than ran numericly up through all the series of there rifles.. There are two ranges for dsm34's an early and late range. This is the early range and early Logo. The box stamp with letters I have never seen before. So I cant comment on weather they are post war applied or not.. Bob Simpson might know. As I said the bolt should be numbered to the receiver. The last 3or4 didgits were used. The unit/group marking helps. Ins value would be 1500.00 retail a little less.. SOme collectors value these higher than others. I value it at 1k ish.. Even though I bought one for half that at auction.."got lucky". Bsw/simspon didnt make many dsm34's as they had their own design the W625 series. And those are quite common. The B series being the most common..

Thanks from what i was told the veteran, mans father i got it from came home in 45. unless the BMS was some sort of release stamp authorizing him to bring home. Would have never thought these little rifles would hold more value than there big brother. I quess in some ways they have more historical significance, me and my son have been shooting and enjoying it's very accurate. Guess i should think twice now parts are probably very scarce..

Shoot the rifle but be careful with the wood and safety. The low power and non corrosive nature of the .22 helps the cause. I wonder if the BMS could be a retailer logo? IMO, these trainers are fabulous rifles that are in low production and generally under appreciated among collectors.

The box stamp looks like a company logo with the M actually larger than the B and S, making the M the last name? The suggestion of a retailer name is logical. I couldn't make out the marking on the bottom of the pistol grip. But way too small to be for the SA.

Joe, I would say it has to be the simpson logo..I will look at my 625's and dsm's and repost.. I have yet to see a trainer property marked to two different groups..The Sold BD was disbanded and absorbed into another org. but, Im not 100% sure who. I heard the Red cross..

Wayne,
Majority of online references to the Soldatenbund/Bundesgruppe/NS-RKB veterans' organizations show the assimilation into NSDAP in late 1930's.

I opened up the BSW tonight and took a few pix. First is the Simson logo (same as M99's avatar) stamped on the barrel bottom. Others are self-explanatory.
