I have had this rifle for some time, but don't think I ever posted it. When I purchased it, the hand guard was missing and the upper band had been driven back onto the stock, you can where the finish was removed.
I would like hear the thoughts of those more familiar with the later rifles about the correctness of this one. Does the bolt number look ok?

All thoughts and comments appreciated.

So I just saw this and the very first photo I chose to open (#5?) I saw this and couldn't resist. So sometimes things that seems 'wrong' are what really was happening at Steyr. Upside down? We got that. Wrong digit completely. Yeah got that too. Check this acceptance location. Just a little bit high.

I thought it unique and useful. I look forward to digging into the photos more

Geezus looking at the grind set in that first under the woodline set. Was the guy getting bombed while he was trying to grind that? Thanks for the really nice photos to look at.

the high acceptance stamp is probably an extra inspection because the receiver was out of spec (rough machining on right side?)

Bolt numbers look good, looks like a nice rifle

Yeah good call. You get used to seeing them all lined up on early rifles. Are we like 90% on that? Thoughts?

Thanks Rob, according to "Kriegsmodell" this would have been one of the last rifles before Steyr adopted kriegsmodell configuration. Any thoughts as to why the rear sight leaf doesn't match the rifle, must be a replacement, as this late was this part even numbered?

It’s replaced, it should be numbered to the rifle, and be of the simplified type. Steyr numbered sights all the way to the end. The safety is replaced too, the machining is more like a SA or Czech part. Tough block to find though, the end of it shows the first KM’s as you mentioned.

Agree, the sight is most definitely replaced. This late 44 range of steyr blocks don’t seem to come up often for whatever reason. They are full of neat examples

That they are, I find them more interesting than KM’s most of the time. I especially like them in C stocks like this one, just makes for a cool rifle.

Really cool rifle as others have said, and tough to find. I’ve got p block KM’s and have always wanted a full configuration example to complete the series but never found a nice one like this. The C stock only makes it sweeter.
