The Champagne Rune Exposed

It's a good site. I highly recommend that you who really want a good read, to learn about this, download and keep your own personal copies of this for reference. Anyone you hear, including the "experts" issuing COAs on these, who say they are real, tell them to read all of this then get back to you.

Wow what a thread that was!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. It's exceptional in its complete dismantling of the Champagne Rune SS fraud. DougB knew he would have to completely and unequivocally decimate this hoax IMHO because of the way WAF would likely handle it. He put it together masterfully and made sure that he had a forum, GHW2, where all of the information could be posted and seen without censorship or manipulation or people claiming that "we are handling this behind the scenes." We are all part of the hobby and we don't need arrogant blowhards "handling things behind the scenes" for us. This needed to be an open and public discussion.

At this point, here is the only substantive Hicks' response, as far as I know, other than insulting and attacking me publicly at GHW2:

I would suggest anyone with any interest in helmet collecting read the Hicks interview above first, then read the entire DougB Champagne Rune debunking.

Interesting 11 minute watch… me being fairly new to WW2 German collecting have heard of the champagne rune helmets and the mess. I never really looked into means I don’t buy helmets.

Just wow...this guy has guts and my thanks for a great presentation.
He is right, the swamp is very large.

Snipers are right up there with SS stuff...that is a topic for later discussion.

I like this guy and I've actually corresponded with him a bit. I'm certainly not up to date with some of the more 'complex' sniper scams that I would suspect are afoot, but I did point him in the direction of some notable 'dealers' and their antics. Will see if he ever does a video covering them...

Bravo. Great detective work. I wonder how many of these CR fakes were made and if there is a attorney general or
prosecutor that would prosecute these guys.

would probably have to be a fed to make any difference, deep pockets & broad area of authority. probably won’t see any action, as collectors we’re not soccer moms or defenseless seniors, just dirty notzi lovers! still, fraud is fraud.
as collectors, we can band together to make these crooks known throughout our community, understanding the difference between the perps & those who were duped & may have traded/sold their fakes unknowingly.

Sad part about this as several of the culprits are local to me (Michigan) and the frequent area military shows.
One guy in particular vacuums up as much stuff as possible.

Again, "dealerization" of a once great hobby.

"Dealerization" well said. On top of that are the profiteers, brokers, and flippers pretending to be collectors. They parasitically exploit free information and the generosity of collectors on forums who think they are helping a fellow collector when all they are doing is helping a parasite without a store front, website, or tax ID no. who is taking buying opportunities from us, then inflating the price and carnival barking based upon the free information we provide. That type of hobby contamination should be frowned upon.

I watched how Civil War collecting crashed. The guys involved got old and had no one to sell their collections to because of the corruption and fakery of the hobby. With the help of the internets we are doing a far better job than they did in keeping things cleaner.

"Kelly is a super serious researcher".... I also spit my coffee out when I first read that. Toady

Notice the veiled threat for daring to question their lid god o_O It took a Doug B and a venue, GWH2, to blow the lid off. Would WAF have allowed it?

If anyone is able to shed a bit more light on this, I’d be interested to get a better understanding of how KenN is complicit in all of this? I’ve got a copy of his book, and can’t recall reading about the Champaign helmets in there. It almost seems like they were left out on purpose.
