Period Pics- Vz.24 and G.24(t) in use

This is a scan of an original photograph in my collection. The two soldiers on either end appear to be holding Vz.24 rifles. Nothing is written on the backside, it is printed on Agfa Lupex paper. Lots of interesting clues in the background and other equipment present. Clearly, some things never change!

Not sure of the origins of this photograph, I found it on the web years ago. Looks very Eastern Front. Anyone else seen it before and know the backstory?

I used to "collect" images of Vz.24s in action, forgot I accumulated so many!

Here's another, one of my favorites. Nice to see the bayonet too!

There are not only Vz24 rifles, Police in shooting is holding Vz.23 rifle, same as the group of soldiers had a Gew98b rifles probably not Vz24.

Andy, thanks as always for the keen observations; post updated!

No problem, the nr.3 from left by soldier cleaning of rifle, could be teoretically too Gew33/40 as have recess for bented bolt, but i dont see details there.

Because it was pointed out not to be a Vz.24 or G.24(t) rifle. As the thread is concerned with only those model rifles it would not make sense to include it here and could possibly cause confusion for other users researching the topic.

Great pics Komet, Tks. Interesting to see Vz.24s in unmodified condition used with frontline troops, early war, but up to Barbarossa.

Thanks HB, glad I could contribute to this great thread. I have been a fan of the 24s since purchasing a CR Block Romanian Contract example about 10 years ago and it really amazes me how they get passed over. Still hunting for a G.24(t)! Once you know what to look for it's amazing how many are hiding in plain sight within photographs you've seen for years.

The Czech arms industry is truly an underrated and often overlooked aspect of Germany's ability to wage war, especially in the "Early Days." Very much enjoy the emphasis it receives in this forum!

Speaking of photographs that you've seen for years, I have always wondered if the soldier third from the right is armed with a Vz.24 rifle. I cannot see the sling swivel lug on the wrist as the soldier's hand covers that area. The stock disk is also potentially obscured by the soldier carrying the MP40. What say you?

Might be. I'm not seeing the details on the right side of the rear barrel band I'd expect from a Vz.24, so I'm kind of leaning more M1924 Yugoslav or M1930 Greek.

I think you are right, might have jumped the gun on this one. I cannot see a screw mount on the rear barrel band now that I look closer...
