Well, I'm like a little kid at Christmas and I can't wait to share the joy. Went to a small gunshow this morning, picked up a CZ27 (posted in the handgun forum) and was just about to leave when something caught my eye. Someone had walked in with a Gew 98 and of course I had to go check it out. Turns it's an all-matching, unsanded, closet-fresh 1917 JP Sauer. Deep stamps in the wood, every number matching, including a matching cleaning rod, and with a pleasant patina on the metal. The only drawback is the missing lower sling swivel, but I wasn't about to be picky. The gentleman had found the gun among his father's belongings (a WWII vet) and believed he had gotten it from his father (a WWI vet). I'll post pictures when I get the chance and proper lighting.
