Well this has been a rifle I have been talking to a gentleman about for a few weeks now. We are working on a trade deal and this is one of the rifle's I'm trading for. He was kind of enough to send this rifle to me and it was a surprise to see it on my front door. He told me he was sending me the bolt to look at. But he sent the whole rifle instead! Anyway it's neat, I don't think I have ever seen a LZA1 Luftwaffe depot rifle before. Have found no records on such a depot but then after discussing it with other collectors. My buddy Clay found another LZA1 rifle in a shop in Texas. The rifle was in very poor shape but the receiver and barrel provided useful information. So that tells me there are others out there somewhere. Have to say alot of neat parts in this K98k. Especially the Imperial era marked safely that was renumbered to match the rifle.
But from what I have gathered it looks like this rifle was assembled from parts. No letter suffix on the bolt and no stamps on the right side of the stock. I'll be honest I tried to take alot of pictures of this rifle. Because if this is a new depot that has been discovered having a matching rifle in the database will provide much useful information. The only mismatched parts I found was the firing pin and barrel band spring. But I think this will be a cool discussion on this rifle.
