1944 Dated Bayonet Frog w/RBN #: Made for Bayonet Other Than 98k? (maybe VZ24?)
The frog shown below is marked 44 along with an RBN number. It is definitely different than most 98k bayonet frogs I’ve seen and owned. My pictures comparing this frog to a standard 98k bayonet frog (this frog is on the left), is the size and shape of its opening for the bayonet, which is not even close to the 98k bayonet frog. The only thing I can think of is that it was made for the VZ24 bayonet, as shown in my last picture. The 98k bayonet is very tight going into this frog, and I would really have to force it to go all the way in (which I did not do). Any thoughts on this?
