The Germans must have been taking these last bayonets of Chatellerault production right off the assembly line as they headed out the back door! Had posted the pictured jwh 43 below some time ago, but too much of a PITA to try to find it again. This was likely another one which got snatched up at the end. It is undoubtedly a reject that got pulled. No serial numbers on either bayonet or scabbard. No WaA inspection stamp either... but not surprising as the casting defect resulting in a large pock on the side of the pommel was why it got the boot...
Peter,Had this one for a while.... a 44 jwh in the "u" block. Notice the one grip plate has a bit of extra wood on the lower part near the cross guard (pic 3).
