And so it arrives. It is ugly for sure, but it does match.

Interesting

Congrats to the bayo, but who cleaned it so badly?
It looked much better on the ebay pics.
Regards

I oiled it because it was solid rust.

I received another personal email telling me it looked much better in my pix. Matter of taste I guess. In any event, no kind of photography is going to make it look very good, short of some serious photo shopping.

I am always more interested in details than photographic excellence, so they all get a sunburn from the flash to which I expose them.

Cool bayo!!

But I'd probably remove that pic with yours and the sellers address....

Good idea. I took the pic because it looked like a present arriving at the door.

I will pull it down now.

sea water

Did the Danes store their bayonets in sea water? I guess he had a sense of humor with the wrapping paper? Or just liked saving money?

I cannot say all of them were stored in sea water, but I am pretty sure this one was. I cannot speak to the wrapping paper.

He originally sent it in normal Denmark post, but it came back to him because they will not fly any knife longer than 12 cm. As soon as they determined what it was, it went right back to him. He finally shipped it DHL. After that it was only three days and it was at my door. Wrapped like a gift no less. Happy birthday to me!

Beautiful! When I was collecting bayonets the 45 eluded me...I would have swam across the ocean to chase that one. Very nice score, congratulations!

Looks like You got Your diamond in collection, a matching 45crs, not sharpened and in normally stored condition, congratulation.b.r.Andy

Good bayonet !
Rust is not a problem, can be withdrawn. Those are the damage of time and conditioning.
On the other hand, I prefer nothing to have rather than a sharpened bayonet
Is not possible for me !!!
