About Mkb42(H) double marked

Hello dear friends!

6 years ago from a dealer in Germany invited me to buy such a interesting example of Mkb 42(H).
It has an unusual dual marked - M.P.43(H)Mkb42(H). But the price was too high and I did not buy it(It was 80 thousands Euro and rifle was deactivated). And last week in the auction Egan offered a similar sample of Mkb 42 double labeling.
Two rare Mkb 42 ...I stored photos of them for photo history.
This forum has many topics, reflecting the peculiarities and differences of various rare specimens of German arms. So I think it is necessary to create this thread for pictures and discussion of the data samples. Unfortunately, the second Mkb42 was illiterate and poorly restored.
What is an inexperienced person restored number and wrote the /42 as year of release. But as everyone knows, in 1942 Mkb42 with this number could not be done. Apparently, the owner of the rifle did not know the story of its creation. In addition, the lost original bolt and knobs the handle, too late buttstock from usual MP44.

So, the photos!
The first rifle in nice condition.

Wow thanks for posting! I have never seen one (yet alone two) here in Europe before!!!! Deact or not, you can't get much rarer than those! Really great to see them, thank you for keeping and putting the pics up here

Thanks for sharing. I'm not an expert in the MP44 series and learning something new all the time. On the second example posted, I noticed that the marking Mkb 42 (H) is on both sides of the receiver (see pic #4 on second MP). I not seen this before.

Great pics - thank you -
Certainly the upper receiver on the second example looks heavily restored* - still - I would have either in my collection without a NY second's worth of deliberation.

*It looks almost like a reweld/refinish from the type of cut receiver we have in parts kits here in the US, which is interesting - do you think it's simply a heavy restoration from a rusty ground find?

Great stuff -

Jakes - that one of belonging to your friend is a beauty!

And very early - I have them listed for delivery starting in April 1943 - to HGr Nord.
(The first 1000 had to be recalled, 500 from from the Heeres ordnance depot)

Mkb42(h)
April 1943 - 2000 -
May 1943 - 3000 -
June 1943 - 3000 -
July 1943 - 1000 -

Hi. I belive it was made almost 12000 mkb42h. I do have the number at home. I have a friend that has one of the last one before svitching to Mp43.

There is no "last one" before switching to MP43 - production of the Mkb42 and MP43 overlapped for three years.
I understand what you mean :)
Your friend has one of the last - or, perhaps even the last one ever produced - but, they had already "switched" to production of the MP43, and been producing MP43's for some time.

MKb42 worked on/shot

I had the distinct pleasure to do some barrel work on a guys MKb last year. Probably a once in a lifetime experience. Obviously I did a lot of test firing to prove out my work before it was sent back to its home out west.
It shot much the same as my MP44's except for the lurch of the bolt/carrier running forward to fire. Shooting for group in single fire off bags it'd shoot about twice the size group at 100 yd. as a 44. It felt and shot pretty much the same in FA. perhaps running a bit slower.
Great fun!! I was honored to have it in my possession for a too short time.
Pete in St. Louis

Thank you for posting photos of two very historic rifles! Incredible that they survived deactivated or not. A collectors dream for sure!
