Hello, i just picked up a k98 made at the bcd factory in 1944. I noticed that below the eagle on the top of the receiver there seems to be an 's' from the ss logo. Its pretty worn out but you can still see it. I'm not sure if this is possibly an ss issued rifle or not. Did this factory make k9

Thanks

Unfortunately it's not an SS rifle, that's a 7 below the eagle. You should post more pictures of the rifle though!

Yes, it should be a 749 under the eagle. The receiver looks to have been polished a bit, so perhaps a light strike 749 that has been mostly buffed away.

Rifle is actually a Sauer finished piece, so the waffenamt is 37 not 749.
